About Paul G. Johnson

A word from Paul

Hello everybody out there in cyberspace. My name is Paul G. Johnson and I have been selling real estate here in Taos, New Mexico for 22 years.

Before I became a realtor, I was in education in Nebraska. I worked for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and the Nebraska Department of Education. While at these two fine institutions, I was an editor and writer as well as a consultant in the field of the social sciences. I did a lot of public speaking and workshops on various topics, mainly in the social sciences.

I got my start in life near Myrtle Beach, S. C. in western Horry County where I was born and raised on a tobacco farm. We were small farmers and thus raised our vegetables and our livestock. I attended small rural schools in Horry County near Aynor, and Coastal Carolina Jr.College until I left for college in Jacksonville, Alabama. From there I went to Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas where I received a masters degree in History and Literature. I also taught school in schools near the Fort Riley Army Base in Ogden, Kansas.

In 1985, my wife, Jan, said, "Let's move to Taos, N. M." I said, Well, I am not sure about that." Obviously, she won out so here we are and I am working as a realtor.

Miss Jan and I have 3 sons, and 2 daughters in law who are absolutely the best. We also have 6 grandchildren. Our grandchildren range in age from 27 years to 8 years.  They are three boys and three girls and also intelligent and good looking as every grandparent knows.

Oh, I almost forgot. Having been raised in the country on a farm, I am partial to animals so we have many dogs and cats, all controlled and supervised, of course. We can't bear to see an animal mistreated or left out in the cold. All of our animals have come to us from folks who can no longer keep them or from being abandoned. Some of the dogs and I are trying to walk together every day that the weather is nice.

In the 22 years that I have been in the real estate market, I have enjoyed it immensely and have met a lot of wonderful people, many of whom have become good friends. I would estimate that I have sold approximately 400 pieces of real estate.

Four years ago, I had two strokes and had to relearn how to read again.  Also, I have undergone a few medical procedures.  Learning how to read again has been a significant challenge but I did it.  I took cognitive therapy at Holy Cross Hospital in Taos.  My motto has become never give up, and keep on trucking.

I believe finding a home or a piece of land is about the most important thing a person ever does for it suggests stability and belonging to a community.

From time to time, I will probably change the information above as new and exciting things happen in mine and Miss Jan's lives.

I would like your business and believe that I can help you find that special place, be it a home, a business or a piece of land.  So call Paul!  I can do it!  Sincerely, Paul G. Johnson
